TrueFacet Holiday Shops Sale

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and you are no doubt looking for the perfect way to celebrate mom. While you have a few more options this year than last, it will still be a different type of get-together than you have enjoyed in the past.

Take the opportunity to start a new tradition. Slip into your favorite outfit and explore one of the many amazing spots offering Mother’s Day brunch in New York City.

Reassure your mom when making plans, each of these restaurants is taking COVID protocols seriously. Your safety is their first concern, but your comfort is important as well. Show up with your masks on, and eat with confidence.

Still nervous? Consider one of the many restaurants offering brunch service for take-out.

Take a Cruise

Hop aboard the Manhattan or Manhattan II to treat your mom to a luxurious dining experience. During the nearly 3 hour cruise, you can enjoy amazing views of Manhattan Island.

The brunch offers table service and includes a three-course prix fixe menu. Enjoy your private table, visiting with mom while protected from others with Plexiglass dividers. If you’re still worried about airflow, each table has access to windows you can open to facilitate airflow.

While there, mom enjoys complimentary mimosas, while others in the group receive one complimentary drink. In addition to mimosas, bloody marys, beer, wine, and champagne are also available.

Brunch includes local bagels with flavored cream cheeses prepared in-house, a smoked salmon platter, and breakfast bakery options. For the second course, enjoy quiche, with locally sourced, fresh ingredients, sausages, and kale salad. Finish up your meal with mini Italian pastries and seasonal fruit.

Purchase tickets online, and depart from Chelsea Piers (Pier 62).

Tavern on the Green

Nothing says New York like Tavern on the Green. Their three-course prix fixe menu planned for Mother’s Day brunch sounds nothing short of amazing. Start with a basket of madeleines for the table, along with whipped strawberry butter.

For the appetizer, choose between smoked salmon salad, baby BLT wedge salad, cream of wild mushroom soup, or roasted black fig and goat cheese flatbread.

For the main course, select from grilled whole fish, roasted asparagus and sweet risotto, Maine lobster eggs benedict, tavern French toast, or brick oven-roasted beef tenderloin and eggs.

For dessert, choose from classic strawberry shortcake, lemon meringue cheesecake, and molten black and white chocolate cake.

Central Park

Want to enjoy some fresh air while celebrating your mom? Head to Central Park for a stroll, to people watch, or sit and watch the water. When you are ready to eat, head to The Loeb Boathouse, the Central Park boathouse where you can rent rowboats, bicycles, and even Gondolas.

The Loeb Boathouse also has excellent food. Their brunch appetizers include a basket of breakfast bread, mixed greens, tuna carpaccio, seafood cocktail, crab cakes, and more.

When you are ready to move onto the main course, consider the full boathouse breakfast, which includes fried eggs, Irish bacon, sausage, chipotle beans, roasted tomato, fried potatoes, and mushrooms.

There are plenty of other lighter options as well, with vegetable frittata, omelet of the day, eggs benedict, waffles, stuffed French toast, fish and chips, and many other choices. If you don’t see exactly what you want on the menu, there are plenty of choices on the sides.

Finish off your meal with white chocolate panna cotta, NY cheesecake, or rhubarb crisp.

Casa Enrique

Forget to make plans ahead of time? Casa Enrique has you covered. No reservations needed, here. Head over between 11 and 3 for a first-come, first-serve brunch. Mexican may not be the first thing you think of for Mother’sDay brunch, but Casa Enrique is the first Mexican restaurant in New York City to receive a Michelin star, so chances are, mom, won’t mind.

Pappardelle

Italian sound like a good choice? Pappardelle’s brunch menu is hard to beat. Belgian waffles topped with bananas, hot chocolate ganache and whipped cream, brioche French toast, eggs benedict, farmer’s omelet, and shakshuka are just some of the choices your mom can choose from.

Add to the celebration by including a carafe of Sangria, Bellini, Bloody Marys, or, of course, Mimosas.

La Goulue

Looking for something a little different? La Goulue is offering a prix fixe brunch menu for Mother’s Day that has many delightful choices. Choose from half a dozen appetizers, including french toast and lobster bisque, and seven entrees, including the expected, like eggs benedict, and the surprising, such as a shrimp and lobster roll. Enjoy a basket of freshly baked breakfast pastries for the table as well.

The Musket Room

For no-frills but amazing food, check out The Musket Room. Their Mother’s Day brunch is available from 11 to 3 and includes a three-course tasting menu. Offerings include oysters on the half shell, quiche, grilled quail, and salad nicoise.

For dessert, select from a lemon or chocolate dessert. Of course, there are mimosas on the menu as well as their own Don’t Mind if I Do, a delightful drink that is perfect for a spring day.

Mark’s Off Madison

What restaurant is a better choice for Mother’s Day brunch than the one known as MOM? Mark’s off Madison offers brunch from 11 to 5 on Sunday and offers traditional favorites such as a lox platter and more modern fare, such as porchetta hash. Between the two there are many other choices, including omelets, huevos rancheros, banana stuffed French toast, and many other choices.

Regardless of where you choose to take mom for Mother’s Day brunch in New York City, you can be sure she will enjoy the thoughtful gesture. After the past year, everyone deserves the opportunity to slip out of their athleisure wear and into something nicer before hitting the town.
